April 2018 – Kent authorities seek our help to beat Homelessness reduction Act deadline!
The past few weeks have been especially challenging for all local housing authorities, as they usher in new duties to people who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness. Changes are needed to culture, systems, processes and documentation.
A group of local authorities in Kent have been using an on-line ‘triage’ tool, originally developed in conjunction with the GLA. This online tool helps customers to diagnose what kind of help they can expect with their housing problem. The tool needed rapid updating, so that it properly reflects the provisions of the Homeless Reduction Act (effective from 3rd April 2018). Who better to specify the correct changes to the structure and text, within a tight timescale, than Trown Housing Consultancy Ltd? The triage tool now allows people in appropriate circumstances to refer themselves to the Housing Options service of one of 13 local councils – giving improved opportunities to prevent homelessness.
In addition, the Kent Housing Group commissioned Trown Housing Consultancy to develop a new range of customer information factsheets. These factsheets clearly outline the services and support that is available in the local area, for specified groups of people (such as care leavers, those leaving prison or hospital, or those experiencing domestic abuse).
